For the first time since he had surgery for a broken left wrist, Buffalo Bills cornerback Stephon Gilmore spoke with reporters about the injury.

He still doesn't have a timetable for his return.

"It feels better," said Gilmore, wearing a brace on his wrist. "I got pins in it, so it's kind of stiff. But it feels better than when I first had the surgery."

Gilmore was hurt in the third preseason game. He called the incident "friendly fire" because it happened when he and Bills safety Aaron Williams collided while combining to tackle Washington receiver Aldrick Robinson.

Gilmore watched today's practice but didn't participate. He rode a stationary bike and did flexibility work on the sideline.

Last year's first-round draft choice is a physical defender. Could the injury limit his ability to jam receivers?

"I don't think so," Gilmore said. "Trainers said I should be good. I'll probably have a little pad on it at first. Then I'll go from there."
