Bills activate some young scratches to see what they can do

TAMPA, Fla. -- A few Buffalo Bills youngsters will get a chance to show what they can do this afternoon against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Raymond James Stadium.

Activated today are a few players who haven't been dressing. Among them are running back Ronnie Wingo, guard J.J. Unga and linebacker Ty Powell. Tight end Chris Gragg, who played six straight games but was benched last week, will dress again today.

Buccaneers who were listed with injuries but will dress include cornerback Darrelle Revis and receivers Vincent Jackson and Chris Owusu, who had hamstring strains.

Buccaneers defensive end Steven Means, a Buffalo native, will dress.

Kyle Williams active for Bills

TORONTO -- Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Kyle Williams will dress for this afternoon's game against the Atlanta Falcons in the Rogers Centre.

Williams' status was suddenly in question when he wrenched his back getting out of bed Friday morning.

Ed Reed to start for Jets; David Nelson will be captain

No major announcements when it comes to the scratches for today's game between the New York Jets and Buffalo Bills in Ralph Wilson Stadium.

But the Jets have announced Ed Reed will start at safety. The Jets signed him three days ago after the Houston Texans cut him.

You also can bank on former Bills receiver David Nelson being a captain. Jets coach Rex Ryan likes to do that when his players go up against their old teams.

PITTSBURGH -- The Buffalo Bills won't have rookie receiver Robert Woods today against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Woods is out with an ankle injury that kept him from practicing. He has 26 catches for 349 yards and two touchdowns.

Bills scratch C.J. Spiller; Saints give Jimmy Graham green light

NEW ORLEANS -- Bad news for the Buffalo Bills.

The New Orleans Saints will have tight end Jimmy Graham in their offense today in the Superdome.

Graham, among the NFL's most dangerous players and a favorite target for quarterback Drew Brees, had missed practice time this week because of a foot injury. Even if Graham is limited today, he will give the Bills' defense something to think about.

The Bills, as expected, have scratched running back C.J. Spiller to help him get over a nagging ankle injury.

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. -- The Buffalo Bills will stick with Jeff Tuel as their backup quarterback for at least one more week, choosing to deactivate recently signed veteran Matt Flynn for this afternoon's game against the Miami Dolphins in Sun Life Stadium.

Bills release OL Sam Young, claim G Antoine McClain off waivers

The Buffalo Bills have made a change to the depth along their offensive line this afternoon.

The team has released tackle/guard Sam Young and replaced him with guard Antoine McClain, who was claimed off waivers from Oakland.

McClain, 23, entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Baltimore Ravens in 2012. The 6-foot-5, 336-pounder played collegiately at Clemson. He spent the 2012 season on the Ravens' practice squad, but was one of the team's final cuts this season after training camp. The Raiders claimed McClain on Sept. 1, but he did not appear in a game for them before being waived Friday.

McClain started 41 of 54 career games at Clemson from 2008-11, including every game in his final three years.

Young, 26, has appeared in 20 games for the Bills over the past three seasons, including four starts last year. The 6-8, 316-pounder played limited snaps at right guard in replace of an injured Kraig Urbik during a Week Three loss at the New York Jets. Young became replaceable, however, when Doug Legursky returned from a knee injury.
