Donald Jones' versatility is what made him appealing to the
New England Patriots.
The Buffalo Bills declined to bring back the wide receiver, and the Patriots signed him to a three-year contract last week.
"We felt like he would be able to be competitive on our
football team at his position," Patriots coach Bill Belichick said this
morning at the NFL owners meetings in Phoenix.
"He's played in the kicking game. He's had production on both the inside
and the outside as a receiver.

-- David Caldwell grew up a Buffalo Bills fan, and it stung.
"I still remember where I was when the kick went wide
right," the new Jacksonville Jaguars general manager said today at the NFL scouting combine. "I
was at a party, and we just went outside and sat in the snow to numb the
pain."
Caldwell, from West Seneca, is part of an amazing sports story sparked by the Bills' Super Bowl years. Those teams fueled a football passion that has driven some local kids to prominent positions.
