Bills still fans of Jeff Tuel as development quarterback

By Tim Graham

Doug Marrone declared faith in Jeff Tuel to be the starting quarterback on opening day.

Seven weeks later, Tuel sought out Marrone to find out where he stood with the Buffalo Bills.

"Actually, Jeff came in to see me," Marrone said of the Bills' decision to bring in Matt Flynn today. The Bills now have four quarterbacks. Tuel would appear to be last on the depth chart.

"I told him, I said, 'It hasn't really changed," Marrone said. "I said, 'Here was our plan in the beginning. This is what we wanted to do. This is how we see you. We see you as a young quarterback that's developing.'

"We reaffirmed with him all the things I said here: 'Hey, we like you. You're a young, developing quarterback. In a perfect world we were probably thinking practice squad. You played extremely well.' "

New Bills QB Matt Flynn: 'I always think I can get the job done'

Bills confirm signing of Matt Flynn, put Jonathan Meeks on IR with designation to return

By Jay Skurski

The Buffalo Bills signed quarterback Matt Flynn today, following a morning workout with the team.

The 28-year-old was most recently with the Oakland Raiders. The Bills are his fourth NFL team in six career seasons. The 6-foot-2, 230-pounder began his professional career in 2008 as a seventh-round draft pick of the Green Bay Packers out of LSU. He has appeared in 39 career games, but made just three career starts.

Flynn was beat out by Russell Wilson for the Seattle Seahawks' starting job in 2012, then lost a competiton to Terrelle Pryor this year during training camp for the Raiders. He made one start in place of the injured Pryor for Oakland in Week Four, going 21 of 32 for 227 yards, one touchdown and one interception in a 24-14 loss to Washington.
