Help seniors help needy students

The Amberleigh Retirement Community is collecting items that will be donated to children in need before the start of the upcoming school year.

Those interested in donating school supplies may drop them off through Aug. 16 at the Amberleigh reception desk, 2330 Maple Road, Amherst. They will be delivered in the coming weeks to The Teacher’s Desk, on Northampton Street in Buffalo, which since it started two years ago has distributed almost $2 million worth of free school supplies to 4,000 teachers and 25,000 students across the region.

Each month, Amberleigh residents select a philanthropic organization or cause to provide donations.
