Free breast cancer screening offered

Sisters of Charity Hospital and the Erie County Cancer Services Program are sponsoring a free breast cancer screening from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 15 for women without health insurance.

The screening, which will be held in the hospital’s Piver Center for Women, at Main Street and Humboldt Parkway, will include a free mammogram and free blood pressure, cholesterol and glucose screenings.

The breast cancer screening is open to all women, age 40 or older, who do not have health insurance and have not had a mammogram in the past year. Through the county Cancer Services Program, eligible participants also may qualify for free follow-up testing and treatment if needed.

To receive a free screening, participants must meet eligibility requirements and appointments are necessary. For more information, or to schedule an appointment, contact Catholic Health’s HealthConnection at 447-6205.
