Mark Russell to perform at Central Library

Political satirist Mark Russell will visit his hometown this month for a performance to benefit the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library System.

Russell, host for 30 years of WNED-TV and Public Television’s “Mark Russell Comedy Specials,” will host “An Afternoon with Mark Russell” at 2 p.m. May 18 at the downtown Central Library Auditorium, 1 Lafayette Square.

Although he officially retired in 2010, he continues to perform on occasion and has been writing songs for children’s theater. Two of his musicals for children have been performed at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Washington, D.C.

Ticket costs range from $10 for students with a valid ID to $30 for general admission and $75 for VIP, the latter of which includes an after show meet and greet reception with Russell. Library cardholders save $5 off a $30 ticket. Buy tickets at BuffaloLib.org or by calling 858-7197.
