Campbell starts with 'C'
Coach Lindy Ruff announced this morning that defenseman Brian Campbell will be the Sabres' captain for December, with Jochen Hecht and Jaroslav Spacek serving as assistants.
Campbell is certainly one of the team's key leaders, both on the ice and in the dressing room. If I was Ruff making the choice, I would have selected either Campbell or Paul Gaustad. So it seems like a pretty good decision from this view.
Campbell for Captain: Good call by Ruff?

Why not? Bill Hajt carried a purse for years and a lot of fools thought he was a great "stay at home" D-man.
I wish he had stayed home -- every game.

If Campbell can't strike fear into Max A. then why would you think that other NHL teams would fear him?
We need a strong, tough defenseman and not one carrying a purse.

I would like to see him made the permanent captain.

Please... Campbell has stamina and has been given ice time due to injuries, period.

Take a look at Dion Phaneuf from Calgary... now there is an example of an up and coming defense man.<>
The NHL have aged old defense man that throw more checks then our little, young Soupy.<>
I thought Lindy was a tough nosed player but he continues to develop all our talent in the wrong direction.<>
Randy Cunningworth continue to deliver the goods but unfortunately Ruff continues to suffocate our young talent.<>
Same cycle, same results... think about it.<>
Every young buck we bring up from the minors comes in strong and always tails off by producing slightly above average.<>
No more - no less...<>
If Darcy had some hair on his chest he would hire a coach fast before we lose all our remaining talent.<>
Ruff may no longer have Randy to make him look like he is actually coaching a team.<>
God knows Lindy is not a leader but could he at least commit to a player on this team so we can develop properly.<>
Lindy has about as much intensity as a 25 watt bulb.<>
Ruff, you'll never be Scotty Bowman so get out there and coach this team.<>

I agree with this. HOWEVER, I wish they would just establish one captian. Since the loss of our previous ones, the sabres have leadership issues. If we could just say "Hecht is Capatin, or Campbell is captain.....indefinetly" then they could solidify themselves in that role and the rest of the team can have someone to lean on.
