Dilemmas on defense
NEWARK, N.J. -- Defenseman Brian Campbell is third in the latest balloting for the NHL All-Star Game and is almost certain to be added to the Eastern Conference team if he isn't voted in. Cha-ching!
As the Sabres drag their feet on yet another star's contract extension, Campbell''s price keeps climbing. He admitted Thursday to Bucky Gleason that he's getting frustrated by the slow pace of negotiations.
The dynamic on the Sabres' defense has been an interesting one this season. Campbell and Jaroslav Spacek have been sensational for the last month while Toni Lydman and Henrik Tallinder have struggled to the point that they've lost their billing as the team's top pair.
Seems pretty obvious the Sabres have to show Campbell the money, doesn't it?
