The view from Florida

Here are this morning's stories from Florida papers that were on hand to cover the Richard Zednik injury Sunday night. They include several more haunting quotes from the Panthers' dressing room.

lou - with guys like you in afganistan, no wonder we are still there. hey! isn't that a toy over there lou? go pick it up. play with it. no, a taliban didn't just drop it...go on. toss it around a bit. maybe we will have one less dou*** bag in the world...

thanks joe for sparing me. i mighta cried. meanwhile i'll just do my thing in afghanistan while you do...?

HEY BIG BROTHER...
CLEAN UP THESE BLOGS

Go Sabres
Go Buffalo

Troll or not, i have to agree with Joe on this one. This is about Zednik, and we all wish him well. Why make it about pride and Buffalonians? Any city and its people would have reacted the same way. There would have been an outpouring from the fans anywhere, especially one in which the hurt player had previously played.

It just seems like people in our city are hurting so much that they will try to grasp on to anything to feel better about themselves and i understand that, but joe is right; it makes us look pathetic when, or if, anything happens good in this city we all stand up and go "SEE! SEE! Buffalo IS a great place!" It's like a little kid asking for affirmation when he feels totally insecure. but it's see-thru, and outsiders find us even more pathetic when we clamor for some sort of identity...

just sayin'...

Don R. Fleming - Tonawanda

lou - ya know, i could go off on you, but i won't. i'll just say this - Buffalo and its people are so pathetic that they try to find "pride" in anything...it is so damn pathetic, i don't know what to say..."we're talkin' proud"...what a joke. if you have to scrape and dig for pride, then you don't have any. just admit the city is pathetic, and move on.

Any doctors anwhere would have treated Zednik the same way. and thank god for that. but that has nothing to do with Buffalo and pride. grow up, will ya???

I saw the game on TV.I live in Fla and I had to watch the Panthers broadcast. The announcers were very shocked
at how the Sabre fans re-acted when it was said Zednik
was "stable & on the way to the hospital".I was proud to be a Sabre fan when I saw all
of them give him a standing
ovation!!!!GREAT JOB FANS!!!
Thank god for the medical pros in HSBC.All day long I was trying to get updates on him from the Panthers mother station, but none was to come.
I've heard more from WGR the last hour then from 790 the Ticket all day!!! i miss it up there.......

You can't say what would have happened in other cities. All you can say is those medical professionals would have given every ounce of their skills and abilities to help whomever, whenever. The trainers, and physicians that are attached to major sports franchises are the best practitioners in the world.

I for one can sleep safer at night knowing that the ones who worked to save Richard Zednik last night are the ones who may operate on me someday, or my parents, or brothers. That makes me proud.

Thanks for your support, Amy and Lou, but there's really no need to feed the troll. Just ignore him and he'll go away.

wow dude, its obvious that you're an idiot.

i agree with your comment mike. yes, other cities have hospitals. but i agree with your point that our medical community represented the region well in handling the two incidents.

i thought Big Brother was cleaning up this blog to prevent morons from posting.

Go Sabres... and Zombies

Relax, joeobvious. Maybe you should cut back on the caffeine? I don't think Mike C implied that any other cities couldn't handle an emergency. Can't we voice our pride in our community and be thankful this accident didn't have a fatal outcome without your posting of such hostility and paranoia?

Yeah, Mike. You are right. In no other city, would Zednik have received treatment. Thank God this happened in Buffalo. Buffalo should have pride. If this happened in Nashville, or Toronto, or Raleigh, or New York, why they might have just let him go right there on the ice.

Idiot. Fool. People who talk like you help to make Buffalo seem like the "city" full of zombies that it is. What a dummy...

I feel a sense of pride in our medical community here in Buffalo. Here we have two of the most brutal sports injuries imaginable in a span of 6 months, and in both cases the quick work of local doctors and trainers averted a tragedy. At a time when we as a community are under constant national scrutiny because of our bad weather and hopeless economy, these anonymous men and women show that we are still a community of good, smart, heroic people.

that god he doing all right my prayers are with him and his family .

I was at the game last night and it is something I will never forget. I thought the fans were very respectful and the standing ovation was a class act. I am glad to hear that he is ok and resting well at the hospital. Also hats off to the trainers that treated him at the arena.

My thoughts and prayers are with Richard and his family for a speedy recovery.
