Zednik back on ice
My friend George Richards of the Miami Herald reports that Richard Zednik is back on the ice and preparing to play again this season.
Zednik, of course, became embedded in Sabres lore in February when his carotid artery was slashed by the skate of then-teammate Olli Jokinen. Jokinen is gone, traded to Phoenix for former Sabre and recently signed Keith Ballard, but Zednik is eager to get back to the Florida Panthers.
"I've been going all summer, working hard just looking forward to the season," Zednik told Richards. "I feel good, I feel comfortable. That's important. I'm excited."
Zednik is wearing a neck guard and apparently plans to continue that.
