Clean sweep time
Lindy Ruff told the media after practice today that the Buffalo Sabres' season starts clean Thursday night in Florida. In his mind, the team's record is 0-0-0 and the players' stats are at zero (of course, cynics may point to the numbers of a few players, notably Maxim Afinogenov, and say they've basically been at zero all year anyway).
Meanwhile, captain Craig Rivet correctly used the word "unacceptable" to describe the team's showing in Monday's stinker against Nashville.
We're going to see if this "clean sweep" and "fresh start" talk is just idle chatter. Can this team really "start over" with the same cast of characters? Was that 6-0-2 start a mirage or are the Sabres really closer to the 3-8 unit we've watched in the last 11 games?
I'm guessing you've still got some venom built up from Monday's game that you can unleash in the comments section. So what do you think: Any chance a fresh start is possible or is it going to be the same old same old?
