Biron Back to Buffalo?

Speculation is rampant that the Sabres, Flyers and Coyotes are working out separate deals that would ultimately bring old friend Martin Biron back to Buffalo.

The Flyers are trying to get their hands on a defenseman and were supposedly working on a deal that would send Biron to the Coyotes for Derek Morris. The Coyotes would then send Biron to the Sabres in a package for Henrik Tallinder and/or Maxim Afinogenov.

Biron would first need to waive his no-trade clause, something he has not been willing to do. There's a good chance he would waive the clause for Buffalo because he still makes it his offseason home. Biron has not had a good year in Philly and will be an unrestricted free agent after the season. He could help his own cause by coming here and playing well.

It makes sense.

Phoenix has been rumored for a while to be interested in Tallinder, who needs a change in scenery. However, it would not surprise me if the Sabres made sure Afinogenov was included in the deal, too, because his money would offset Biron's money. Both are rentals.

It raises the possibility is turning it into a package deal that would include Hank and Max to Phoenix for Marty and a pick/prospect. The Coyotes are loaded with young players. Sounds good to me. The Sabres could use a goalie. I could use the quotes.

Stay tuned.
