Best playoffs ever?

You just keep figuring the NHL playoffs can't get any better. Then they do.

I was out and about Monday night watching Pittsburgh-Washington and Chicago-Vancouver, and the packed place was entranced. Lead changes and momentum swings with the Penguins and Capitals, capped by overtime drama. And the best thing about the Capitals' victory in Game Six? It means there will be a Game Seven.

The third period of the Blackhawks' elimination of Vancouver brought audible yells of delight from the patrons. A hat trick by local star Patrick Kane, including an out-of-nowhere move on his backhand. An Original Six city jacked up.

It's almost too much. Thankfully, it's not even half over.

It can't be the best playoffs ever if the Sabres aren't even in it. C'mon, John - have you abandoned being a Buffalo fan?

Kane and Toews' performance (as well as their teammates) helped make the Hawks-Canucks series fun to watch, but unfortunately it doesn't get the attention it deserves.

With all the attention on the whole Ovechkin-Crosby thing, it was great to see two other young stars, Kane and Toews, lead their team to the Conference finals. It would be great to see Kane in the Cup finals.

Game 7 tomorrow here in DC is going to be intense.

yes lou not in afghanistan,

his mom makes him do all that. actually come to think of it, his mom is also responsible for his calder trophy and even his hat trick against the 'nucks and the prima-donna luongo.

nice input you clown.

High level of play in the Pens/Caps series. Low level of officiating. I don't have a dog in the fight, but I almost flipped my lid when the refs called that penalty on Laich with two minutes left in the 3rd last night. In a twisted way, I was hoping for the Pens to score there just to see the inevitable firestorm it would have created. Alas, I will settle for a Game 7.

I've convinced myself that he plays with his mouth guard like that because he watched Chris Drury on the Sabres in his formative years. Drury does the same thing.

Great games last night, but best playoffs ever? Sorry, I have to be a Sabres fan here and say that was in 2005-2006.

i love how kane never has that mouth guard in. i thought he might just take it out after the play, but he never has it in. i wonder if he just has it out there because his mom made him play with one? he's like 11 isn't he? i'm surprised his mom doesn't make him wear a neck guard.
