Max to get shot in Atlanta

Maxim Afinogenov with Ilya Kovalchuk? Could happen. The Atlanta Thrashers have brought in Afinogenov for a tryout so he can dipsy-doodle his way around Philips Arena and make nothing happen. Update: Just remembered Randy Cunneyworth is on the Atlanta staff. He was in the Buffalo organization as the coach at Rochester for nine years so he would know Afinogenov from training camps and such.

The Wild and Penguins are among those also believed to have kicked the can on Max.

Re the headline, Max should have been shot in Buffalo.

harrington, are you the dimwit that wrote the title for this section???? can't you even proofread six words???

@Tim, Yea but Mogilny also didn't over stick handle and try to take on the whole team himself. Mogilny is a whole other level above Max as far as I am concerned.

If he performs reasonably well and is willing to take a cheap contract, he'll get another shot in the NHL. Speed kills, right??

BTW -- that's alot of comments on the story posted on the Atlanta Journal site. Either they are all ex-Buffalonians or hockey is alive and well in Atlanta.

Perhaps... but as a co-worker points out to me so often, Mogilny would have been nothing if it weren't for LaFontaine being able to keep up with him and pass him the puck. Who knows what Max might do if he has someone to skate with.

But like you all say, chances are he'll be a liability......

Sort of like the fans who support JP Losman and expect a miracle to happen.

Good for Max. Now some other team's fans can get unbearably frustrated watching him draw his teammates off sides and become an extreme defensive liability.
