Chatted with Mike Weber today, which is always a fun interview (see Friday's paper for the story). The 21-year-old defenseman is being overshadowed during rookie camp by Tyler Myers, and once training camp starts Saturday, he'll be just one of nine guys who think they deserve a roster spot.
Though the Sabres will start only six, Weber is intent on being one of them.
"My goal from Day One when I was 18 years old and came here was to make this team," Weber said in HSBC Arena. "I feel like I’m finally in a position where it’s my spot. I’m 21 years old now. I’m a little bit older, a little bit more mature.
"This is my season."
