Emery returning, so it's video time

I've said it before and I'll say it again, whenever Ray Emery gets in the local news, this video will be here. Emery will start for the Flyers on Friday in HSBC Arena.

For the record, I could watch this every day. It's one of the four most memorable NHL games I've covered so far, joining Mark Messier's final game (in Madison Square Garden), the Winter Classic in Ralph Wilson Stadium and Marc-Andre Fleury's 55-save performance in Pittsburgh's triple-overtime, Game Five victory during the 2008 Stanley Cup finals.

Greatest fight ever? I think not. Sure, it's fun to watch goalies go at it, but it doesn't constitute a great brawl. Roy-Osgood matches were better for fight talent. And the sabres put their enforcers in while Ottawa put on their first line. Not much is gonna happen with them out there. So, no, this isn't the best Sabres fight ever.

I submit for your consideration Cashman-Schonfeld. Pardon the quality, it's 1972 afterall. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wLv1l107524 I guess we all have our favorites, eh.

Greatest brawl ever? Those who say that need to either give their heads a shake or you were born in the 1990's. Brawls where people used to actually land tons of punches used to take place all the time in the NHL. This isnt even Top 10 all time brawls for the Sabres who have always been one of softer teams. Besides when Nolan and Muckler coached here, the Sabres have always been on the losing side of scraps rather then winning.

The reason the Sens didn't come to Emery's defense is that Emery is a former amateur boxer which is also how/why he made Biron look so awful. In defense of Emery, once Biron was down he obvious lets up on him.

the 06-07 Sabres were a team that would stand up for each other without question. I went to that game and will never forget that one (good thing there's YouTube)

How do the Sens let their goalie fight our tough guy? I'm still amazed that no one jumps in when Peters is pounding Emery. I know the Sens didn't have thier goons on the ice, but this is ridiculous. You always defend your goalie, no matter who is on the ice. What a gutless group of players. No wonder they always under-achieved.

A DOUBLE bomb drop from Lindy (4:43 and 4:50). Wow. Heard it clear as day.

Razor probably thought, standing between Lindy and Murray, "Darn, why did I retire? I should be out there mixing it up!"

I could watch it every day too. I kept it on my DVR for a year. Sigh. Sure miss Jim Lorentz.

Jon, I'm with you. Greatest brawl ever.

In fact the Sabres ought to play this clip in the dressing room before every game. So right on so many levels. Loyalty, toughness, passion, courage, moral outrage, fire and brimstone, dogs and cats living together...

Great idea to stoke things up. I'm not sure if Lady Quinn enjoys watching it though; she might prefer the shopping network or some Lifetime channel special.

There are so many things I love about this video:
1) Watching Rob Ray between the benches
2) Jim Lorentz's voice
3) Seeing how young guys like Vanek and Briere look

Such a fiesty group. I put this right up there with the Game 5 win against the Rangers (Drury and Afinagenov score) as one of my most memorable moments too.

This was one of those moments -- I remember exactly where I was when this happened. I will never forget it. Seeing Lindy jump out of his skin after Murray and the look on Razor's face, trying to stay calm as the tempers boiled, are priceless. I have to think that this year's team is starting to quietly get that swagger about them, and it could be, I say could be, another fun run. GO SABRES!

That's a team with spirit and I think this year's team tops them...Lindy is our coach till he decides he is done.

that clip is incredible
