Winger Mike Grier will miss tonight's game against the New Jersey Devils and could be out even longer because his mother is ill. Grier has left the team to be with her.
"We'll give him as much time as he needs," said coach Lindy Ruff.
That means the line of Grier with Tim Kennedy and Thomas Vanek will be broken up and Ruff flipped lots of things around this morning.
Derek Roy was between Jason Pominville and Jochen Hecht. Tim Connolly was between Vanek and Drew Stafford. Kennedy was joined by Clark MacArthur and Patrick Kaleta while Matt Ellis centered Adam Mair and Nathan Paetsch.
Patrick Lalime was back from his conditioning assignment in Portland but he will not play tonight. It's expected to be Ryan Miller and Martin Brodeur in a potential Team USA/Team Canada Olympic preview. The betting is Lalime plays Saturday night in New York, the Sabres' fourth game of the week and third in four nights.
