ST. LOUIS -- Just got to the Gateway to the West and historic Lambert Field (which I didn't know was historic until watching the unforgettable "Up in the Air") and was greeted with two pieces of Sabres news:
1. Henrik Tallinder is an Olympian. Sweden named the defenseman to its gold medal-defending squad today along with standouts Peter Forsberg, Nicklas Lidstrom, Daniel Alfredsson and the Sedin twins. Tallinder has had a bounce-back season with the Sabres while being paired with rookie Tyler Myers. He is tied for the lead among Buffalo blue-liners at plus-6 and has two goals and eight assists.
B. The Sabres have activated defenseman Chris Butler from injured reserve and placed forward Nathan Gerbe on IR. Butler has missed 12 games with a sprained ankle and got close to returning for Saturday's 3-2 shootout loss to Ottawa. The St. Louis native was determined not to miss tonight's game in his hometown.
