Rochester is not Pantherland

ROCHESTER -- The Rochester Americans are the affiliate of the Florida Panthers, so here's an easy question for you from Blue Cross Arena. What is more plentiful tonight in the building: Panthers jerseys or Darth Vaders?

The Force is with you if you guessed Vader.

There is one Darth Vader, courtesy of a Red Cross fundraiser. During my extended stroll around (and around) the concourse, I couldn't find any sign of the Panthers. I was going to count Sabres gear, but I'm not sure my math goes that high. (I can count to nine, which is what one of the Amerks' Ice Girls would qualify as, but that's another story.)

While attention is focused on Albany and its bid to lure the Sabres' minor-league team to New York, it's clear Buffalo and Rochester are still the correct connection. This is Sabreland. When the affiliate agreements between Rochester-Florida and Portland-Buffalo end, the organizations should try to join again.
