Sabres win and they're in

As if the Sabres didn't have enough motivation to beat Ottawa -- thinning that 24-6-4 record the Senators own since the lockout -- they can add another factor. If they win, they're in the playoffs.

The ninth-place Atlanta Thrashers lost tonight in overtime to Toronto, meaning the maximum number of points they can get is 92. The Sabres are at 90, with victories the first tiebreaker. Buffalo has 40 wins, which is the max for Atlanta.

So if Buffalo beats the Senators, their 41-win, 92-point total will end the two-year playoff drought.
