Black aces coming from Portland

BOSTON -- The Portland Pirates were swept out of the AHL playoffs Tuesday night by Manchester so the Sabres have called up several Pirates as part of a "Black Aces" squad to provide some depth.

Expected to join the Sabres for practice Thursday in HSBC Arena are forwards Nathan Gerbe, Mark Mancari and Luke Adam, defenseman Mike Weber and Marc-Andre Gragnani and goaltender  J.P. Lamoureaux (top goaltending prospect Jhonas Enroth has missed several weeks with a high ankle sprain).

Major coup for Adam, who just signed his pro contract after a big year in the Quebec Junior League. Still wish the Sabres would have called up Weber at some point and put him in the lineup.
