Dale Tallon built the Blackhawks into a Cup contender. It appears he's getting a shot to do the same in Florida.
My buddy George Richards of the Miami Herald is reporting that the Panthers are set to hire Tallon as their general manager. The announcement is expected Tuesday.
Tallon is an adviser to the Blackhawks after being relieved of his GM duties last summer. Tallon, who has been in Chicago for three decades, drafted Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews, traded for Patrick Sharp, and signed free agents such as Nikolai Khabibulin and Brian Campbell. He was demoted after failing to deliver offer sheets on time to his restricted free agents last summer and replaced by Stan Bowman.
