Pominville waiting on word from doctors

ATLANTA -- Jason Pominville feels healthy and ready to go. Coach Lindy Ruff is ready to use the right winger. Now all they need is the official OK.

Pominville took a neuro-psych test Wednesday to judge his recovery from an Oct. 11 concussion, and the results are not in. The Sabres had expected to hear from the doctors prior to today's 11 a.m. practice, but two hours later there was still nothing in Philips Arena.

"The waiting around part is never fun, but the good thing about it is I was able to go out there and skate,'' said Pominville, who worked the point during power-play drills. "It's not as if I was waiting for the results to go out and skate. Then it would probably be a little worse. But I got a good skate in, and whatever happens, happens."

If Pominville passes the memory test (he failed part of the first one), he will be in the lineup Friday when the Sabres visit the Atlanta Thrashers.

Shaone Morrisonn will return after missing six games with a groin injury. Fellow defenseman Andrej Sekera is doubtful with a left hand injury. Chris Butler took Sekera's usual spot on the blue line during special teams work.
