OTTAWA -- Eight goals in four games is certainly a good reason to earn a Player of the Week award. Mark Mancari accomplished both.
The Portland forward, who has hat tricks in two straight games, has been named the AHL Player of the Week. In four games for the Pirates from Wednesday to Sunday, Mancari recorded eight goals, two assists and a plus-7 rating.
The 25-year-old has taken over the AHL lead with 26 goals and ranks third with 51 points in 42 games. He has 12 goals and 19 points during his 11-game points streak.
