DENVER -- Greetings from the Mile High City, where the Sabres will have their morning skate at 11:30 a.m. Mountain Time.
While we wait, we'll go over the NHL's first six All-Stars, announced today. Pittsburgh and Chicago voters must've been online a lot, with the two teams getting all six. The Penguins will send forwards Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, defenseman Kris Letang and goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury to Carolina at the end of the month, while the Blackhawks will have forward Jonathan Toews and defenseman Duncan Keith at the game and skills competition Jan. 29-30.
There will be 36 more All-Stars and 12 rookies announced Tuesday. Once the selection of the 42 All-Star players is complete, the players will decide which two All-Stars will become team captains as well as four alternate captains, two for each team. The NHL All-Star Player Fantasy Draft will be televised live on Versus at 8 p.m. Jan. 28, with the captains picking the teams.
The Sabres' Ryan Miller was seventh in voting among goaltenders.
