Former Sabres enforcer Andrew Peters officially retired today in this statement issued by the NHLPA. Just a great guy. The enforcers often are the most personable ones in a locker room.
I was at locker cleanout day in 2006 and saw Peters stuff one of Daniel Briere's sons in a garbage can in the middle of the room. Guys were doubled over laughing. Maybe you had to be there. Peters did some work on the air recently for Time Warner at Niagara University and the release says he will live in Buffalo (he's from St. Catherines and married a local woman). Good for him. Glad he'll be staying around. Maybe he'll join Rob Ray and Matthew Barnaby in the media world.
And what would a blog entry on Peters be without John Vogl's favorite video? It's a time-tested classic that I share my colleague's affinity for. As a special bonus, I also found a fan's ode to Peters' pugilism.
