Tim Kennedy's whirlwind year continues, as the Rangers have traded the South Buffalo native to Florida (along with a third-round pick) in exchange for defenseman Bryan McCabe.
Kennedy, bought out by the Sabres prior to the season, has spent the year with the Rangers' AHL affiliate in Connecticut. He was second on the Whale with 42 points, including 12 goals, in 53 games. The Panthers' AHL team is the Rochester Americans.
My buddy George Richards of the Miami Herald reports that McCabe, the sixth captain in Panthers history, becomes the sixth captain to be traded by Florida.
