PHILADELPHIA -- The Chris Pronger situation fluctuated wildly from the start of Philadelphia's morning skate to the end, with the star defenseman looking all but certain to play tonight in the beginning but shifting to questionable at the conclusion.
Pronger participated fully in the workout, skating alongside blue-line partner Matt Carle during drills. Pronger, who is recovering from mid-March hand surgery, took shots on the goaltenders, including slap shots. He looked ready.
"He looks good," coach Peter Laviolette said.
Pronger, though, stayed on the Wells Fargo Center ice after most of his teammates left to shoot pucks, and it was then that he struggled. He grimaced on a wrist shot and fanned on another.
1:10 p.m. update: CSNPhilly is reporting Pronger is out tonight. Official word, of course, will have to come following warmups.
