The Sabres, in need of a forward after losing right wing Jason Pominville to a leg laceration Friday night, have recalled center Matt Ellis from Portland. The move will allow Brad Boyes to shift from the middle to his natural right wing position for Sunday's potential series-clinching game against the Flyers.
The Sabres held a team meeting today in HSBC Arena rather than practice, though injured players were scheduled to skate in Northtown Center at Amherst. Two of those -- center Derek Roy and forward Jochen Hecht -- could be in the lineup if the Flyers force Game Seven.
"Derek is very close, very close," Ruff said. "I would put him in a category of within days. Jochen Hecht is a matter of days, too. Help is on its way."
The Sabres, of course, are eager to try and close out the Flyers in Game Six without the duo and in front of their own fans. To hear from Ruff, left wing Tyler Ennis and right wing Mike Grier, click the audio files below.
