The Buffalo Sabres' desire to add a forward has gotten more difficult. Washington is set to announce it has signed Brooks Laich to six-year contract extension worth $27 million.
Laich, who can play center and wing, likely would have been on the Sabres' wish list. The free agent list gets thin.
