Sabres, Amerks happy to be unified

Just got back from Rochester, where the Sabres formally took over the Amerks. The hierarchy will be the same as in Buffalo, with Terry Pegula as owner and Ted Black as president.

They do not yet have a coach, Sabres General Manager Darcy Regier said. He expects quality applicants.

Other tidbits from the news conference:

*In order to win back fans, the Amerks have priced season tickets at $10 for every seat in Blue Cross Arena at the War Memorial. Whether it's along the glass or in the top row, it will cost $400 for a season-ticket package.

*The Sabres' organization plans to build winners at both the NHL and AHL levels.

*AHL President David Andrews, Pegula and Regier all praised the unification, with Andrews saying he couldn't think of a better way for his league to end its 75th season.

*Regier said being an hour away will allow for more teaching of the prospects, which he considers the most important part of the deal.

*The AHL will realign this weekend, with Rochester remaining in the Western Conference as the league goes to six divisions instead of four.
