Some updates from Sabreland heading into Friday night's final North American exhibition game at Washington:
---Derek Roy practiced fully but isn't likely to play tomorrow. "Unless he really feels almost 100 percent, it doesn't make a lot of sense to use him and put him in any way, shape or form of jeopardy to play in a regular season game," said Lindy Ruff.
---Patrick Kaleta has quite the welt under his right eye but is otherwise unscathed from the hit he took Wednesday night from Thomas Vanek. He praticed fully.
"It is practice and stuff but it happened. It was a good hit," Kaleta said. "He felt bad about it. All in all, he smoked me. .. You practice hard. Each and every day we want to get better. If you start smoking guys like that, I'm pretty sure it will be better off for our team. I just gotta stay out of the way. I'd be the first one there to back him and any of our teammates up."
---Ruff said he's toying with splitting goaltending Friday between Ryan Miller and Jhonas Enroth. It was originally going to be Miller's game.
---Jochen Hecht has skated on his own after practice the last couple of days.
