HELSINKI, Finland -- Coach Lindy Ruff had a lot of captaincy candidates, but after discussing the situation with General Manager Darcy Regier, owner Terry Pegula and other Sabres management, it became clear he should name Jason Pominville.
"We just felt this was the right move for this group that has grown up together that he should lead our team," Ruff said this morning in Hartwall Arena, where the Sabres will face Anaheim tonight in the regular-season opener.
