Sabres on ice for final preseason skate

HELSINKI, Finland -- The Sabres have taken the ice in Hartwall Arena for their final practice of the preseason. Starting Friday, everything is for real with the morning skate and the regular-season opener against the Anaheim Ducks.

There are no surprises on the ice. The three goalies and seven defensemen are skating, Jochen Hecht (concussion) is in a no-contact role and Matt Ellis is without a line. The lines are the same they've been for days:

Thomas Vanek-Luke Adam-Jason Pominville

Nathan Gerbe-Derek Roy-Drew Stafford

Tyler Ennis-Ville Leino-Brad Boyes

Cody McCormick-Paul Gaustad-Patrick Kaleta

The Ducks are also set to skate this morning in the practice rink in Hartwall Arena, which is actually two floors below the regular rink.
