The Sabres have signed one of the top collegiate scorers in the nation, agreeing to a one-year, entry-level deal with Brian Flynn worth $925,000. The center was captain of the University of Maine.
Flynn ranked ninth in the NCAA this season with 48 points in 40 games. He had 18 goals and 30 assists, many of the helpers going to college scoring leader and Hobey Baker Award candidate Spencer Abbott.
The 23-year-old Flynn has reported to the Rochester Americans and will complete this season on an amateur tryout contract. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound Massachusetts native is expected to play Friday against the Toronto Marlies.
