Marcus Foligno has been sudden impact for the Buffalo Sabres, manning a spot on what's suddenly become the team's top line with Tyler Ennis and Drew Stafford. The Son of Mike has gotten plenty of notice around the NHL and added a big honor today when the league named him its rookie of the month for March. Foligno has six goals, five assists and a plus-10 rating since joining the team March 9 in Ottawa.
"It's an honor. It's amazing what has happened this month, not just for myself but with the run the team has gone on," Foligno said today. "There's some great players in this league and for me to come in like I did and have success with the line has been huge. I have to give those guys [Ennis and Stafford] a lot of credit for my success."
Foligno played one nondescript game for Buffalo in December in Ottawa but was ready when he second chance came around, again against his older brother Nick's Senators.
"Game one in Ottawa got the nerves out and I was back in Ottawa for game two so I went right back at it," he said. "I just had confidence from the get-go I think. Playing well in Rochester helped out too. This is where you want to be and you have to make the most of it."
