New look surfaces at 48-game schedule

By Mike Harrington

TSN's Bob McKenzie tweeted late Tuesday afternoon about a new scheduling matrix for the shortened 48-game season that seems a little more reasonable than the one floated around immediately after the lockout ended.

Here's how McKenzie sees the schedule going:

---Each team will play five games against two divisional opponents (10), three at home and two on the road.

---There will then be four games against the other two divisional foes (8).

---The Sabres will then play three games against their other 10 Eastern Conference rivals (30).

So that will be two home and one road against five of them and one home/two road against the other five (they'd certainly like to avoid that second trip to Winnipeg!).

The Sabres would thus play 18 games against Toronto, Montreal, Boston and Ottawa and the other 30 outside the division. There will be no games against the Western Conference this year.
