Elliotte Friedman of CBC's Hockey Night in Canada has just reported a couple important nuggets of information for the upcoming season.
1). Teams have been sent a memo tonight that they may not open training camps until the new CBA is ratified, and that they should prepare to open camp either Saturday or next Monday.
2). The season will be 48 games and will open Jan. 19.
There is no confirmation yet from the NHL on these points but that's expected to come Monday.
Update: Several folks on Twitter point out First Niagara Center is not available for a potential opening of training camp Saturday because of the Bandits' season opener. Tough to find weekend ice other places, and especially impossible at the Northtown Center in Amherst because it's filled with kids' leagues. Stay tuned.
