Before Ron Rolston takes over the home bench tonight, here's a couple Lindy Ruff video classics -- his run-in with Islanders goalie Billy Smith during Game Six of the 1980 semifinals and the infamous Ottawa brawl of 2007 that saw Ruff jaw with Senators coach Bryan Murray.
In the Islanders clip, Ruff is No. 22 in blue and parked in front of the net. The incident starts at about 55 seconds. The Ottawa brawl was six years ago yesterday. Never tire of playing that one.
John Vogl has been covering the Sabres since 2002-03, an era that has included playoff runs, last-place finishes and three ownership changes. The award-winning writer is the Buffalo chapter chairman for the Professional Hockey Writers’ Association.
