RALEIGH, N.C. -- The rumors have become reality as the NHL draft is shrinking to a one-day event.

With the Stanley Cup finals pushed back to late June due to the lockout, it was suspected the league would not have time to hold its usual two-day entry draft. The NHL announced this afternoon that all seven rounds will be held June 30 in Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.

The draft will begin at 3 p.m. and be televised on NBC Sports Network, and the NHL Network will take over at 8 p.m. for the conclusion of the later rounds.

All 14 teams that fail to make the playoffs will have a chance at the first overall selection, with the odds available at NHL.com.
