MONTREAL -- Ryan Miller is the Sabres' No. 1 goaltender. There's no question about that.
There was a question of whether he'd start tonight against Montreal, though. Miller has been struggling, while backup Jhonas Enroth was stellar in a 3-2 overtime win Tuesday against the Canadiens. Folks were eager to see which netminder would leave the morning skate in Bell Centre first, which is typically the signal for that night's starter.
Miller left first and will play for the second straight game. Interim coach Ron Rolston said he gave no thought to going back to Enroth.
The numbers wouldn't have faulted him for doing so, however. Miller is 1-3-2 in his last six starts. He has a 3.56 goals-against average and .876 save percentage.
"Ryan’s got a lot of pride in what he does, and he wants to be better for us," Rolston said.
Enroth is 2-0 with a no-decision in his last three starts, with a 1.66 GAA and .948 save percentage.
Both goaltenders have had success against the Habs. Miller is 24-9-6 with a 2.30 and .922. Enroth is 3-0 with a 2.27 and .925.
