The Sabres have certainly moved on from former first-round pick Zack Kassian. They signed the guy they acquired for Kassian, Cody Hodgson, to a six-year, $25.5 million contact.
Kassian has moved on, too.
"I have a couple friends on the other team, that’s about it," said the Canucks forward, who will play in First Niagara Center tonight for the first time since the 2012 trade. "It was a short time here. I made some good friends along the way, obviously playing in the minors and whatnot, but other than that it’s just another game.
"Once you switch a team and another team wants you, you move on pretty quick, especially going to a city like Vancouver. It’s tough to sulk."
Kassian has played just twice after getting suspended five games for high-sticking in preseason. He has no points and five penalty minutes.
"I just want to help the Vancouver Canucks win," Kassian said. "Obviously, I’m coming off a suspension and need to start contributing a little more offensively."
