NHL hands Sabres' Kaleta a 10-game ban for head shot (with video)

By John Vogl

UNIONDALE -- Patrick Kaleta's fourth suspension is his biggest.

Following an in-person hearing today, NHL disciplinarian Brendan Shanahan issued a 10-game suspension to Kaleta for a head shot on Columbus' Jack Johnson. Kaleta served two games while waiting for his hearing and also will miss the Sabres' game tonight against the Islanders.

Kaleta's status as a repeat offender worked against him on the hit, which was high but did not injure Johnson on Thursday. This is Kaleta's fourth suspension following four-game bans last season (boarding) and 2011 (head butt) and a two-game benching (boarding) in 2009.
