Nolan stresses the importance of the fourth line

by Amy Moritz

Ted Nolan has used all four lines through the first two games he's coached with the Buffalo Sabres.

And expect him to continue to rely on all the lines in every game as part of his coaching style.

The Sabres top line of Matt Moulson-Cody Hodgson-Drew Stafford seems to be solid along with the fourth line of John Scott-Cody McCormick-Corey Tropp. The middle two lines have been shuffled a bit, mostly with returning Ville Leino and Zemgus Girgensons to center.

“If you look at the league now, it’s 82 games," Nolan said after practice on Monday. "It’s tough and it’s travel and it’s mentally tough. If you don’t have a fourth line to go out there and give you some minutes, you’re going to wear down real quick. I’m really happy with Cody with Tropp and Scott. I thought they did a great job for us the last couple of games. Our first line is as good as any in the league. We’ve just got to tweak in the middle.”
