Player safety video explanation of Kadri's suspension

by Amy Moritz

Toronto's Nazem Kadri was suspended for three games for his hit on Minnesota Wild goaltender Niklas Backstrom Wednesday night. That means Kadri will miss Friday and Saturday's home-and-home series between the Leafs and the Sabres.

The reasons that elevate to this a suspension as narrated in the NHL Player Safety video, is that Kadri goes into the goaltender on his own; he his not pushed or steered into Backstrom and the hit is forceful and to the head.
