The roster move we've been waiting for happened this morning as the Buffalo Sabres assigned defenseman Brayden McNabb to Rochester.
But it's likely only for tonight.
That's the indication from interim coach Ted Nolan who said they sent McNabb to Rochester for the Amerks game with the Utica Comets tonight and would be recalled after the game.
"The Rochester Americans are so close. ... We can get him some game action and we can call him back up after," Nolan said.
McNabb played in three games for the Sabres. He had no points, one shot and an even rating.
Should they recall McNabb, the Sabres will still need to clear a roster space for Cody McCormick, returning after missing four games with an upper body injury.
That move likely could be placing defenseman Alexander Sulzer on the injured reserve. Sulzer has missed the last three days of practice and wasn't able to skate again on Wednesday.
Also missing from practice was forward Matt D'Agostini. Nolan said D'Agostini wasn't feeling well and they gave him the day to rest.
