Biron becomes the latest former Sabre to join HarborCenter

By John Vogl

The halls and dressing rooms of HarborCenter will be filled with a familiar French Canadian voice.

Martin Biron is the latest former Sabre to join the Academy of Hockey that will take up residence in HarborCenter. The longtime Buffalo goaltender joins Kevyn Adams and Adam Mair on the teaching staff.

"I want to help improve and develop goaltenders at all levels at the Academy of Hockey,” Biron, named director of goaltending, said in a statement.  “As a father of four, I am very passionate about youth hockey development and am excited to work with young players. I’m equally eager to help goaltenders at the junior and professional levels to advance their game to an elite level.

"I am very excited to return to Buffalo and give back to the people and community who were so supportive throughout my career.”

The academy's plan is to develop players and coaches when the twin-rink facility across from First Niagara Center is complete later this year.

“In the months ahead, we look forward to rounding out our coaching team with other well-qualified and highly-credentialed coaches at all levels," said Adams, the former Buffalo assistant coach who is the vice president and director of the academy.
