Report: Darcy Regier on radar for assistant GM job in Phoenix

By John Vogl

Darcy Regier has been out of the spotlight since getting fired by the Sabres in November, but his name surfaced in Phoenix over the weekend.

The Coyotes have an opening for an assistant general manager, and Fox Sports Arizona has listed Regier as a potential candidate. Regier has ties to Phoenix GM Don Maloney through their time with the New York Islanders.

The Coyotes' assistant GM job became vacant when Brad Treliving left to become general manager of the Calgary Flames. The report said Maloney is in no rush to hire an assistant GM but could have one in place by the scouting combine later this month.
