Report: Sabres officially submit bid to host NHL Scouting Combine

By John Vogl

The Sabres told The News last month they planned to submit a bid to host the NHL Scouting Combine. The bid is in.

Buffalo has asked the NHL for rights to the Combine for at least the next three years, team President Ted Black told the Associated Press today. The Sabres have been working on a comprehensive package to lure the weeklong event to HarborCenter, beginning next June.

“There’s a lot of teams that are expressing interest in hosting some future Combines,” said Dan Marr, director of NHL Central Scouting. “There’s interest, but Buffalo has had a strong agenda and a strong presentation that they’d like to become the home of the Combine.”
